Calvin has been involved in the leisure-software industry since 1993, carrying out management and Business Development roles throughout.

Prior to founding Paper Plane, Calvin spent 3 years working at Empire Interactive. Here he succeeded in closing deals with companies including Konami, Taito, Sega, Typhoon Games and D3 Publisher. Various IP licenses were won including Space Invaders Anniversary, Taito Arcade Legends, Taito Memories, and Hello Kitty.

Before working at Empire, Calvin worked at Purple Software. As well as continuing his licensing activities surrounding Oxford Softworks’ products and services outlined below, Calvin was involved in discussions with network operators and handset manufacturers in Japan , where he also helped to establish Purple Software KK.

Until 2000, Calvin was General Manager at Oxford Softworks, famous for developing and publishing board and card games including Omar Sharif Bridge and Complete Chess System. Turnover and profit had been trebled by the time the business was acquired by Purple Software in 2000. Here Calvin successfully negotiated contracts with companies including Microsoft, Nokia, Interplay, Ubisoft, Mindscape, Global Star and numerous Japanese companies.
